As Vegeta's space pod streaks away, Kuririn
carries the unconscious Gohan over to Goku. Bulma's airship arrives,
and upon landing, Chichi bursts out and snatches up her son. The
Turtle Hermit and Bulma attend to Goku, as Karin-sama tells him
how proud he is of their efforts. Kuririn gives his condolences
to Bulma over Yamucha's death. Now that Piccolo and Kami-sama
are gone, the Dragonballs won't work any longer. Bulma becomes
distraught and breaks down crying. She verbally attacks Yajirobe,
wishing he were dead instead of Piccolo. Karin breaks up the argument,
and reminds them that they need to get the wounded heroes some
medical attention.
|
As night falls, the Turtle Hermit and Yajirobe carry Goku up into
the airship. Vegeta's artificial moon burns itself out, and they
take off. Kuririn guides them back to where the bodies of their
fallen comrades lay. He tells Bulma not to cry, that there may
be a very slim chance of resurrecting their friends. Before he
can elaborate, they arrive at the first battleground. The bodies
of Yamucha, Tenshinhan and Piccolo are loaded into refrigerated
coffins — there isn't enough of Chaozu's body left to preserve.
|
Everyone grieves over the loss of their
friends. Bulma's thoughts are on the happy times she spent with
Yamucha. Kuririn reflects on how the other three lost their lives.
Gohan eventually awakens in his crying mother's arms, and everyone
else congratulates him on his efforts. Now that Gohan is taken
care of, Yajirobe suggests Chichi might take some concern for
Goku. She refuses, blaming her husband for everything bad that
has happened to Gohan.
Bulma prods Kuririn to explain
what he was saying earlier. He tells how the Saiyans first learned
of the Dragonballs on Earth through Raditz's Scouter, and after
wiping out the planet, they would seek to have their own wishes
granted with them. When they arrived on Earth and saw Piccolo,
they recognized him as being from the planet Namek. Kuririn relates
how during the battle, Vegeta said that if they went to the planet
Namek, there would be more powerful Dragonballs there. Gohan remembers
them having said that Namekians have the power to fabricate some
kind of mysterious balls. If someone can somehow get to Planet
Namek, they can use those Dragonballs to wish everyone back to
life. Everyone jumps at this news, except for Bulma. She points
out that they don't even know where this planet is supposed to
be.
|
Thinking fast, Goku telepathically contacts
Kaio-sama to learn the whereabouts of Namek. Kaio congratulates
them on their victory and converts Namek's coordinates to Earth's
units. As Bulma pulls out her calculator, Kaio also tells of a
climatic disaster the planet suffered some time ago, killing off
most of the its inhabitants. Karin-sama realizes that the late
Kami/Piccolo was sent to Earth so long ago in order to escape
this tragedy. In an uncharacteristically sagacious moment, Yajirobe
asks why the Namekians didn't just use their Dragonballs to wish
the climate back to normal. The Turtle Hermit answers that Sheng
Long can only grant wishes that are within the power of its creator.
|
Kaio-sama interrupts, saying he found the planet Namek, and there
are about a hundred Namekians still alive! He says that the Namekians
are peaceful by nature, much like Kami-sama, and that Piccolo
was the exception. However, after Bulma finishes her calculations,
they discover that Namek will take over 4339 years to reach with
a conventional spaceship. Fortunately, Kuririn happened across
the remote control pad for Nappa's space pod as they retrieved
everyone's bodies. After some analysis by Bulma, the Saiyans'
technology could be used to take one of them to Namek and back!
Having found a means of possibly bringing their friends back to
life, everyone takes heart.
